I have to tell y'all about something SO AWESOME today!! I'd like to introduce you to 2 ladies: 1. Gregg Renfrew is a MAJOR girl boss. Four weeks ago I didn’t even know her name and now I am a HUGE FAN. And 2. a local Beauty Counter consultant, Kellie House, reached out asking me if I would be interested in trying some of their products... I was intrigued, so I did some research and fell in love with their story.
I absolutely believe that there is no such thing as too many white shirts... They are classic, go with anything, and let's just face it - they're the easiest to mess up, so its always good to have more than a couple, anyway!! And white bottoms and shoes are post-Memorial Day MUST HAVES!!
Plus, A GIVEAWAY
Happy Saturday!! We're now one week out from my birthday party, and I was thinking this morning that I should show y'all a few of my favorite things from that night in case y'all had a birthday party, a shower, or really any event that you were planning or hosting!! There are just a few items (short & sweet) that are definitely worth mentioning (A.K.A. I would totally buy them again!):
This drink dispenser was actually my favorite party find! This is one of the few items I bought specifically for this party!! Blake and I have only hosted one large gathering before this one, so we didn't have anything like this. But, I did need something to hold drinks for 15 people, and it was love at first site when I found this one at Walmart for under $15!!!! So happy I stumbled upon this one the morning I actually went to Walmart to buy Plaster of Paris to make chalk paint LOL! We served Blackberry Sangria out of this one and it did the job perfectly! You could see all of the fruit floating in it since the sides are clear! Plus, the rope & galvanized metal accents compliment my decor perfectly!!
For our Blackberry Sangria, we mixed 3 bottles of Roscatto, 2 cups of Blackberry Brandy, 6 cups of Cranberry Juice, Blackberry Syrup made from 1/2 cup of water, 1/2 cup or sugar, and 12 oz of fresh blackberries - reduced, and 1 cup of orange juice! We added apple, orange, and mango slices to float!!! Make it the night before and refrigerate it until the festivities begin!! :)
I love this table cloth that I bought on Amazon! It's for an 8' table, but when I put it on my 6' table, it reaches almost to the floor and is so elegant! I use it for holidays, events like this, pop-up-shops for my boutique... The material is thick and durable!! Plus, it has held up so wonderfully in the wash!! I recommend this brand to anyone who needs a table cloth! Seriously, its only $11 y'all!!
BloomsyBox provided some flowers for my little shindig!! They were a very sweet birthday surprise that brightened up the whole room!! I pretty much only have neutrals in my house (grays, white, black, wood, metal), so to have this gorgeous pop-of-rose-beauty in our party space made the whole atmosphere better! Does anyone else just melt at the site of some fresh flowers in your home!? I don't know about you, but for me, there is nothing more welcoming than coming home to my fur baby wagging his tail like crazy & the sight of fresh blooms on my table!!
BloomsyBox is technically a flower subscription service. You get to choose the frequency at which flowers arrive at your own, or someone else's, doorstep (Mother's Day is coming up... hint, hint). You can even choose what kind of flowers are delivered!! I believe these were April's rose selection! This service is a wonderful treat for anyone who receives it! If its for a holiday, a random surprise, or just to brighten up your own home, there is no feeling like receiving beautiful, fresh blooms! I can speak from experience, because I almost cried at receiving these, and they weren't even from anyone I'm close to, they were just straight from the company... Just imagine how a loved one would feel receiving these from YOU!!!
Another one of my party favorites were these Copper Cure Moscow Mule Mugs!! We've always wanted some copper mugs, and were so excited when Copper Cure wanted to send me some to review!! The copper gets SO COLD along with its contents, keeping the ice from melting too quickly and watering down your drink! We've used them a few times, and we still love them!! They are hand wash only, unfortunately, but that's no different from any of my other cutesy kitchen stuff (I'm rolling my eyes at myself right now because I just purchased decorative, "cutesy," gold measuring cups & spoons... You can also find those HERE). The mugs have held up really well to the alcohol, acidity of a moscow mule, and the washing; though, I have to say that the straws aren't holding up quite as well... But, the straws aren't necessary for drinking your drink, and aren't what you're actually paying for, so there is no love lost there in my opinion! I'm so happy to have these beauties adorning our bar & containing one of my favorite drinks!!
Our Moscow Mule Recipe is: 2 oz of Vodka, 3/4 oz of lime juice, and 4 oz of ginger beer (that's just one serving). We got it from a book called "The Bar Book" that I got Blake for Christmas! It has everything in it! Not to mention the fact that its cute too (as far as setting it out for decoration as well LOL)!
So, now that you think we're alcoholics LOL, please keep in mind that this party was "cocktail party" themed!! There were even more drinks than that ;) But, the real star of the evening was the CUPCAKES!!!
They were made by a local baker, Mrs. Delightful's Bakery! She is based out of North Augusta, SC. If you are anywhere close to here, she is worth the drive!! I got her Brownie & Snickerdoodle cupcakes, and she custom made these Cookies & Cream ones for me!! Honestly, "they were AMAZING," just doesn't even give them justice! Just look at that picture... They speak for themselves!!! The Cookies & Cream were my favorite, and the Brownie were Blake's favorite!! I can't wait for my next excuse to order from her again!!
Well, this post ended up way longer than I expected LOL! The "blogging" part of being a fashion blogger is hard for me because I say I'm not a writer, but boy am I a TALKER.... I could seriously just keep going, and going, and going!! But, I'm signing off for now LOL...
XOXO - Rachel
The flowers & Moscow Mule mugs were sent to me complimentary, but all thoughts and opinions are my own! Some of the links in this post are affiliate links from which I could receive a commission off of any sale procured after clicking.
It's no secret that I buy A LOT of clothes! But really, shoes and other accessories just slip my mind most of the time... Before this most recent shoe haul, I hadn't purchased new shoes in almost a year!!! So... I decided that I would up my shoe game in 2018!! Is it a New Year's resolution? Not really... Just a great new style goal!! Because I seriously feel like a great shoe could truly MAKE an outfit!! And likewise, if you don't have the right shoe for a certain look, then you might not be able to pull it off at all... And I certainly don't want you to be in that situation, because, if you're anything like me, your outfit totally sets your mood for the day! And I definitely want to feel FABULOUS!!! Don't you!?
Now that I've had a couples weeks to wear all my new shoe finds, I really wanted to review them for you!!! I've listed them from least to most expensive... But nothing over $90!!
These super classy black mules are the least expensive of the new shoes I've gotten. The black makes them highly versatile and super classy. They were a great first pair of mules for me because they stay on a lot easier than, I came to find out, most other slides do... They also come up a lot higher on the foot, so I love that they hide my super pale feet LOL!!!! They are only $22.99 and are a must have in my opinion!! In fact, they are the most shopped item that I have on my blog!! They fit true to size AND also come in a light pink/blush color!
These mules are also perfect for the new slip-on trend! If you've never owned mules before, you definitely need to have a pair this year because they are wildly popular right now!! The nude color allows them to go with ANYTHING, so they are highly versatile and very much worth their $39.99 price tag!! I think these are the best buy of the 3 mules I have reviewed here!! The leather is a little rigid at first, so I got a blister on my pinky toes the first time I wore them, but I waited a week before wearing them again and then they were fine!! They fit true to size.
These beauties are only $49.99 and are my favorite of my new shoe purchases because a *super bright* pop-of-color is so much fun!! Its also absolutely on trend!! I love to wear them with almost any neutral outfit to add a little wow-factor to the look! They don't come in half sizes for the 6, 7, and 8 range (but do for smaller and larger sizes), so I went up to the 8 and they are perfectly fine for me. The suede is so soft that I didn't have any "break-in" period!!
These are a little more expensive, with a price tag of $69.95, but Nordstrom does free shipping so there's no added cost!! The quality is amazing, the leather is so soft, and they are just so cute and feminine! They aren't really a "must have," but if you like to have super cutesy shoes in your closet to add a little something to your everyday looks, these will fill that roll perfectly!! They fit true to size.
I've been calling these my "gangster pink shoes" to Blake since I ordered them on Friday! LOL, I think its the high tongue that brings that name to mind... I don't have them yet, but they are due to arrive today!!! I'm so excited to have them here for my new workout schedule (A.K.A. I just joined a gym again after a year and a half long hiatus). Cute workout gear is SO MOTIVATING!!! I will update this review once I've worn them a couple time... So just come back here in a few days if you're really interested in them!! They are $69.95 and I ordered my regular size :) **Update 2/24/18** I've worn these babies twice now! The first time was out to a casual dinner and the second was to the gym! And I have no complaints!! They are so comfy - they feel like they are hugging my feet without being too tight, LOL! I wore them with socks & they fit great! There was no break-in period!! I love them because they worked exceptionally well for athleticism, but also for looking cute at the same time! Two thumbs up for these tennis shoes!
And last, but not least... The best tennis shoes I've ever owned: These are the exact same shoe, just in different color options! I've purchased them both and they also come in a gray combo. These are a little older than my most recent shoe finding frenzy, but they are still available, so I wanted you to know about them!! They fit true to size and I am still able to always wear socks with them! They are my favorite workout companions & I have really enjoyed owning them!! They are a little more pricey, but quality tennis shoes always are... In fact, they may be my most expensive shoes LOL! They are $85 each, but I'll have them forever... I mean, seriously, my feet haven't changed size in a decade LOL! Just watch for a good sale, and snatch them up!!!
That concludes my "New Shoe Review"... I will add to this post each time I find some more great foot accessories!! And if you'd like the updated list sent straight to your inbox, make sure you subscribe to my email list HERE. Happy Shoe Shopping!! P.S. Each image is clickable to purchase its shoe, or you can scroll down to find all of these (and a few other pair that I own) at the bottom of this post!
I don't know about y'all, but I'm about over all this hot weather, and the afternoon showers that come with it! I've really been daydreaming about what this next season will bring for us... Both literally and figuratively. Fall is my absolute most favorite season, and Blake and I are getting to enjoy it somewhere a little different this year! If you're a subscriber, you've already gotten all the dirty details on this, and the rest of you will find out more and more with every blog post I'm sure!!
In this post in particular, I'm sharing some of the woes of property management and why this past week and weekend have been so difficult for us... Our first renter moved out of our rental property on Monday of last week... And we learned that she absolutely trashed the place!! It took Blake and I over 22 hours total to repair all the damage and repaint every single surface in that house, and it took a cleaning lady another 10 hours to clean up all of her mess!! After 3 days of working on that every evening/night after work, it was finally Thursday... The day we were leaving for Atlanta to check out a car Blake wanted to buy and to spend some time at the apparel market! Then, once we returned home on Saturday, we immediately began helping my parents with their new flip house, worked all weekend, and then began the workweek again on Monday... I'M. SO. TIRED!!
But... Such is life! Its the life of a property manager... Its a life we've asked for, and a life we still think we want... It's just a bit of added stress right now, but thankfully it is temporary!! But it did required a little retail therapy LOL!
Shopping for Fall makes ANYTHING better, I promise ;) You can believe me because I've done plenty of it!! This monochromatic look is the first of many Fall outfits that I want to share with you!! I especially wanted to introduce this fabulous top to you before you started your Fall shopping!! I think this short-sleeved, white eyelet-front, blush sweater-backed sweater would be a perfect Summer to Fall transition piece for your closet!! I especially love it styled in this dressier, all neutrals outfit!! But I also like it dressed down with denim shorts and ballerina flats. :)
The extra small fit me, but I bought the small instead. I liked the way the sweater material on the arms fit a little looser with the small... So, just note that when picking out the size you want, the sweater fits a little boxy everywhere but the arms... Buy the size based on how you want it to fit your arms! I'll provide the links to where you can find the items in my entire look below the next picture:
Pants - HERE ($98)
Top - HERE ($69.50)
Heels - HERE ($99)
Bag (similar, but one I've also owned) - HERE ($175)

Tomorrow marks my official 6 months of blogging!! That means, 6 months ago this evening I was sitting in my office wondering how I was going to do this thing! While my dear husband was researching and price comparing cameras, I was deciding on a name and prepping my first few posts!! It was a very crazy time!! Demure had just started to take off, it was the last day I guaranteed orders to arrive by Christmas Day, and I was crazy busy!! But for some unknown reason, I wanted more... I was tired of other bloggers not giving their ALL when promoting Demure, and I knew that I could do better, be different!! I was a small business owner myself, and I felt like I knew how to best serve all the small businesses out there!!! And the truth is, Demure's merchandise is not the only clothing I like.... I love it all!! So, I want to talk about it all!!!
I had been thinking on a name for about a month at that point... You know, people ask me all the time why "A Demure Life"? And I can't even believe I haven't shared that, out loud, to all of you as a whole yet... For those of you that don't know (well, the first paragraph hinted at it) I have a boutique called "Demure"! Its my 3-year-old baby, that I've put A LOT of time and money into!! Blake came up with the name for my store, and I love it so much!!! I also happen to have a rental property company called "Demure Properties"...
So, essentially... This IS my Demure life!! But, *MY* Demure Life sounded somewhat snotty and awful!! So I went with *A* Demure Life!!
When I think about all my businesses being named the same way, it makes me laugh because it gives me some sort of small hope that I might one day be as successful as Joanna Gaines: She has Magnolia Market, Magnolia Farms, Magnolia Reality, Magnolia Journal, etc! She's built an empire, and one day I will too!!! ;) Wish me luck in all my crazy dreams and aspirations LOL!
So here's the details of my look! These linen pants are FANTASTIC!! I told you all about the white pair I also bought while Blake and I were at the beach, on Saturday's blog post! I bought a size 6 in the white, because, well, they're white (I'm sure all you ladies understand)! But I bought these patterned cuties in my usual size 4! They are linen, so they do wrinkle, but I think thats the best part about this fun pattern.... You totally CAN NOT tell!!! They also have a great draw string waste, and cute cuff detail at the bottom hem! I am 5' 7" and this is the length they are on me with just the 1 cuff they come with! And you can find them HERE for the fantastic price of $64.50! I don't know how many of you have purchased quality linen pants in the past, but these are a good deal (just in case you missed that from Sayurday night's blog post)!
This exact top is from 2 years ago so it has sold out, but the one HERE ($28) is very similar, the one HERE is very preppy (nice and collared like I like), and this one HERE is the one I wish I had to wear with these pants, and is only $24.99!!!! OMGeeee
These wedges are my favorites for the Summer! If you follow me on any form of Social Media, you are probably sick of seeing them by now!! But they have just been restocked in all sizes, and now come in 2 more colors than before!!! Find them for just $59.95 HERE!
This awesome Cleopatra-style, gold, bib necklace is from my own shop, and there is ONLY 1 LEFT!! So hurry and grab it for yourself if its something you want!! Get it HERE for just $18!
That's it for tonight ladies! I hope you all liked this casual, everyday look at much as I do!! Feel free to drop me a comment of what you'd like to see more of!! And thank you all from the bottom of my heart, for coming along with me on this journey for as long as you have!! I hope we make it another successful 6 months together!! Can't wait to see where we are in December!!
Love you all, XOXO
